NEXT NSSC TALK: Behind Bars + Beyond Stigma with Justyna Rzewinski, LCSW, PHD(c)
Join NSSC for our quarterly talk, this coming March 6th, 2025 at 4PM Pacific/7PM Eastern US time.
Former social worker and whistleblower at Riker's Island Jail, Justyna Rzewinski, LCSW, PhD(c), will present on "Behind Bars and Beyond Stigma: Confronting the Mental Health Crisis in Incarceration."
She is currently advocating for the Treatment Not Jail Act to be passed, a bill in New York that would allow individuals living with mental illness and substance abuse to receive the vital support needed in the community and not suffer and be tortured as she witnessed working on Rikers Island.
Her talk will be focused on policy changes we should be advocating for to end the mass incarceration of those with SMI and SUD.
