Crystal Fox brings over three decades of frontline clinical experience to her role as the Arizona Policy Director for the National Shattering Silence Coalition. A career psychiatric nurse, Crystal served for 30 years at the Arizona State Hospital before retiring and continuing her mission at Valleywise Health, Maricopa County’s sole provider for court-ordered evaluations and treatment.
Crystal’s academic background includes an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Mesa Community College (1993) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University (2022). Her deep clinical roots provide her with a unique perspective on the systemic gaps in the treatment of psychosis and serious mental illness (SMI). Following the tragic loss of her son, Joshua, Crystal transformed her grief into grassroots action, co-founding the Arizona Mad Moms in December 2023. Today, she is a leading voice in SMI advocacy, dedicated to reforming policy and supporting those who champion the needs of the most vulnerable individuals living with psychotic disorders. When she isn't advocating for systemic change, Crystal enjoys exploring the country on road trips to visit her family and friends. |
