ANNE WHITMAN, PHDboard memberAnne Whitman brings more than 30 years of experience building, supporting, and guiding peer communities that serve individuals living with serious mental health and substance use challenges. Her work has consistently centered on the core peer values of mutuality, empathy, and resilience.
Peer Community Leadership Anne was a co-founder of the Jonathan O. Cole Mental Health Resource Center at McLean Hospital and the Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community. She has led peer research teams at the Center of Excellence for Psychosocial and Systemic Research at Massachusetts General Hospital and currently serves as a consultant to two Community Behavioral Health Centers. Her leadership roles are combined with her own lived experience, helping her develop trusted roots across multiple peer communities. Academic & Research Excellence Anne has contributed to several PCORI-funded research initiatives, serving as an advisory board member for projects at Northeastern University and the University of Connecticut. Anne holds a PhD in Anthropology from Harvard University, an MBA from Boston University, and an MS in Education. She has held significant academic and administrative roles at Harvard University, MIT, and Wheaton College. |
