David christopher hager, md, msMedical advisor | board memberDavid Christopher Hager, M.D., M.S., brings more than three decades of clinical, administrative, and advocacy experience to his role as Medical Advisor and Board Member of the NSSC. Board certified in Psychiatry, Neurology, and Clinical Informatics, Dr. Hager has dedicated his career to serving individuals living with severe mental illness.
Forensic Psychiatry & Anosognosia Dr. Hager has a particular focus on anosognosia — the neurological inability to recognize one’s own illness. His forensic psychiatry experience includes work in state hospitals, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, county jail mental health services, and justice diversion initiatives. Health Informatics Innovation In addition to direct clinical care, Dr. Hager has served as Chief Health Informatics Officer and chaired institutional clinical informatics committees. He holds a Master of Science in Applied Biomedical Informatics from UTHealth Houston, where his research focused on machine learning applications in psychiatric treatment outcomes. A strong advocate for evidence-based care, Dr. Hager works to advance policies that ensure individuals impaired by anosognosia have access to timely, appropriate, and sustained treatment. |
