Mack Jr. is a Michigan State Court Administrator Emeritus and serves as Board Member and Judicial Advisor to the National Shattering Silence Coalition. Judge Mack served as a probate judge in Wayne County, Michigan, for twenty-five years before his appointment as State Court Administrator in 2015.
Judicial Reform & Decriminalization Throughout his judicial career, he worked extensively at the intersection of courts and mental health. He currently chairs the Governor’s Mental Health Diversion Council and previously served on the Governor’s Mental Health Commission. Judge Mack authored the influential 2017 policy paper, Decriminalization of Mental Illness: Fixing a Broken System, and served on the National Judicial Task Force to Examine State Courts' Response to Mental Illness. Lifetime Achievement In 2022, he received the Judge Stephen S. Goss Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his national leadership in improving court responses to mental illness. Through decades of service, Judge Mack has championed policies that reduce the criminalization of mental illness and promote access to appropriate treatment and diversion. |
