lynn nanos, licswSecretaryLynn Nanos, LICSW, has been with the National Shattering Silence Coalition since its inception and serves as Secretary and Co-Chair of the Communications Committee. She brings frontline clinical expertise and policy advocacy experience to the organization’s leadership.
Frontline Emergency Services Lynn is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker employed as a full-time mobile emergency psychiatric clinician in Massachusetts. In this role, she evaluates individuals in homes, jails, residential programs, and hospital emergency departments. She assesses for danger to self or others, determines grave disability, and authorizes involuntary transfers to hospitals when necessary. She also previously served as an inpatient psychiatric social worker, coordinating discharge planning and advocating with insurance providers for medically necessary hospitalization. Advocacy & Authorship Lynn is the author of Breakdown: A Clinician’s Experience in a Broken System of Emergency Psychiatry, offering a candid look at the systemic failures within emergency psychiatric care. She has publicly advocated for Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) and testified in support of AOT legislation before the Massachusetts legislature. She earned her Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and continues to work to ensure public policy reflects the realities faced by families and frontline providers. |
