He brings decades of executive leadership across biotechnology, investment architecture, corporate development, and healthcare innovation to the coalition, combining high-level financial oversight with a deep personal commitment to dismantling the systemic barriers facing families impacted by severe mental illness.
Daniel is the Founder and CEO of Lanier Biotherapeutics, where he successfully engineered the corporate turnaround of an antibody-discovery firm originating from the University of Georgia. In this capacity, he rebuilt the organization from the ground up—reconstituting the board of directors, assembling elite executive and medical advisory teams, restructuring global operations, and securing $2.6 million in private financing. Under his strategic direction, Lanier advanced a portfolio of first-in-class antibody therapies targeting type 2 inflammation and fibrosis while securing a robust international intellectual property foundation. Prior to Lanier, Daniel was the Founder, President, and CEO of Clearside Biomedical, a publicly traded ophthalmic biotechnology company. Over nearly a decade of executive leadership, he scaled the enterprise into a dominant, multi-program clinical-stage organization, raising over $275 million in capital and pioneering innovative therapies for sight-threatening diseases. His broader corporate career includes senior leadership roles in finance and corporate development with global life-sciences organizations including GSK/Stiefel, Alimera Sciences, Novartis’ CIBA Vision, and aaiPharma. Throughout his career, Daniel has architected more than thirty complex transactions and participated in over $450 million in capital raises, directly contributing to the commercialization of multiple FDA-approved therapies. He holds an MBA from Wake Forest University, a B.S. in Molecular Biology from Auburn University, and has completed advanced post-graduate studies in pharmacology and corporate finance. Daniel’s data-driven advocacy and systemic focus are profoundly shaped by personal loss. His son, Harrison James White, passed away in December 2025 after a long and courageous battle with illness. Harrison’s life was defined by an enduring kindness, resilience, and a deep love for others. An avid outdoorsman and accomplished rock climber, Harrison brought joy, warmth, and encouragement to everyone around him. His memory and legacy serve as the foundational driver behind Daniel’s work with NSSC—ensuring that no family is left to navigate the chaos of severe mental illness without unassailable data, financial support pathways, and immediate access to medical care. In addition to his professional and policy operations, Daniel is deeply dedicated to community service, including youth coaching and faith-based community development initiatives. His dual leadership at NSSC provides the coalition with the sophisticated financial guardrails and legislative strategy required to turn shared lived experience into scalable, nationwide healthcare reform. |
