OUR massachusetts state
POLICY DIRECTOR

Meet Lynda Michaud Cutrell

CONTACT LYNDA
Lynda Cutrell joins NSSC as the Massachusetts State Policy Director, bringing a formidable background in executive leadership, public policy, and mental health advocacy. As a family member directly impacted by serious mental illness, Lynda has dedicated her career to transforming the landscape of care, education, and legislative reform in the Commonwealth and beyond.

Before joining NSSC, Lynda served as President of the Board of Directors for NAMI Massachusetts, where she led large-scale initiatives in public awareness and advocacy. Her influence on state policy is well-established; as a member of the Massachusetts Governor’s Mental Health Advisory Council, she played a key role in the advocacy initiative for the state’s Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) project. This vital initiative built the first enduring alliances between law enforcement, first responders, and the mental health community to ensure safer outcomes during psychiatric crises.

Lynda’s impact extends to the national level, having served on the NAMI National Board in Washington, D.C. As Chair of Transitional Age Youth Policy, she spearheaded initiatives focused on early intervention and family education. An innovative communicator, Lynda created the “99 Faces Project”—a groundbreaking exhibition at the Boston Museum of Science that utilized art and neuroscience to destigmatize the narrative of recovery. The exhibit is now permanently installed at the Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH), where Lynda also serves on the Board of Trustees.

Lynda’s strategic approach is informed by over 25 years as a Senior Executive in financial services across Boston and New York City, where she navigated complex domestic and international markets. Additionally, her background as an Adjunct Professor at Boston College’s Master’s program—specializing in marketing and communications for nonprofits—provides her with a unique ability to build national awareness for the most pressing issues in mental health policy today.
