Legislative Landmark & Public Service During his tenure in the United States Congress, Dr. Murphy authored and championed the most significant mental health reforms in a generation. His landmark legislation, the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act, passed the House with a nearly unanimous 422-2 vote. This historic bill was subsequently incorporated into the 21st Century Cures Act and signed into law in December 2016, fundamentally reshaping the federal approach to serious mental illness. His work has been recognized with highest honors from the American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Clinical Leadership & National Consultation Dr. Murphy currently serves as the Clinical Director of Fortis Future, a premier multidisciplinary treatment program designed for veterans, military personnel, and first responders navigating traumatic stress. Beyond his clinical leadership, he provides high-level consultation to national organizations, local governments, and educational institutions on school safety and public policy. As a Policy Advisor to NSSC, Dr. Murphy provides the strategic oversight necessary to drive large-scale legislative reform and improve treatment access across the nation. |
