NSSC Member and bereaved mother, Barbara Gates, is starting a support group for parents who have lost their adult child to circumstances of Serious Mental Illness (SMI), as she lost her beloved Jack Gates in January 2023.
Our first meeting is Wednesday May 1st, 2024. We'll meet first Wednesday 4pm Pacific and Second Saturday 2:30pm Pacific each month. Missing Jack everyday, Barbara hopes to get and give support to those who have endured the triple tragedy of 1) witnessing their cherished child literally go insane, 2) not be able to get them the treatment they need because of archaic laws, and instead watch their disease be criminalized, spending YEARS living between jail and the streets and finally 3) lose them forever...and lose a part of our future. Join NSSC's quarterly talk presented by NSSC member, peer advocate Darrell Herrmann, entitled Lessons Learned From 40 Years of Living With and Advocating For a Psychotic Illness.
Darrell is a retired United States Army officer and a retired computer programmer. Q&A to follow. Date: Thursday, June 6th, 2024 Time: 7:00 PM - 8:15 PM Eastern/4:00 PM - 5:15 PM Pacific To register, follow this link. |
